Work it! Zoe Saldana
Every week I’m going to try and feature someone that inspires me fashion or style wise.
This week is all about actress Zoe Saldana. She’s starting to become a household name, but I’ve admired her work for years. She also shares my Puerto Rican heritage. I do have to say, that recently she has been looking very thin. I hope the industry is not getting to her! :(
“Zoe Saldaña (born Zoe Yadira Zaldaña Nazario June 19, 1978) is an American actress, known for her recent roles as Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Uhura in the 2009 film Star Trek, and Neytiri in the 2009 James Cameron film Avatar.
Saldaña was born in New Jersey to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother.
She enlisted in a ballet class at one of the most prestigious dancing schools in the Dominican Republic, gaining experience as a dancer, which benefited her later for her role in Center Stage. She returned to the U.S. after her sophomore year in high school and enrolled in the Faces Theater Program, an acting course.
Saldaña has a keen interest in fashion and has her own fashion line called Arasmaci, where most of her designs are influenced by her Dominican heritage.”
Work it Zoe!

Worth the Wait

Hey You! How are you? What’s going on in your life right now? I want to know…
I’m enjoying a beautiful Sunday in Texas…thinking. Thinking about moving back to Miami soon. Not sure if I should, so I’m praying for direction.
I’ve been thinking a lot about marriage and having babies lately. I really thought I would be married by now, but God only knows why I’m not. I guess I have some learning to do in the love department. I’m hoping it happens soon! I’m looking forward to experiencing that part of life. I know whenever it happens it will be worth the wait!
Thinking about doing another blog today!
I’m totally rearranging my life right now, to be more productive. I need to make some changes in order to accomplish what God wants me to do.
Whenever I do get married, I’m almost sure I’m having a destination wedding on the beach. Fun! Fun! Fun! For everyone! If you’re not married, what kind of wedding do you want?
LOL! Would I do this?

Can’t fight the feeling…
I’m finally back to blogging and it feels sooo good! I miss the beach sooo much, by the way. That’s why I have a beach pic up. This one is from Hawaii. I’m hoping to go there soon! Anyway…
This time around I’m doing more fashion and image posts. One of my passions is fashion! I’m also working on a fashion business, so why not blog about that part of my life! I love vintage fashion and pretty pictures, so I will blog a lot about that.
Blogging also helps me vent and take my mind off some things. I’m trusting that God is directing my steps and I’m choosing to live life one step at a time and one day at a time. Amen!
Here are some of my favorite fashion sites! I’ve been inspired by these lately-

Abstinence Education-Young people discover immorality has its price.

I received this news the other day from One News Now- a great news source!
I’m praying for this generation of young teens as well as my generation of 20-30 somethings. After reading please post your comments about fornication/premarital sex, abstinence, and abstinence education.
STDs a growing trend among America’s youth
A government report reveals a strong need for more attention to abstinence education.
Janice Crouse of Concerned Women for America has seen the report on sexually transmitted diseases which comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“It’s just very appalling because the sexually transmitted diseases syphilis and Chlamydia now are continuing to rise,” she notes. “And Chlamydia is at an all-time high, an historical high, with over a million new cases a year, which is an increase over last year of some seven percent.”
Since many of the new reports involve young people, Crouse says the figures suggest comprehensive sex education — which she believes encourages young people to be intimate — is not working.
“We have said to a whole generation, almost two generations now, of young people, ‘Just be careful and use a condom,’ and that’s the only advice we are giving them,” she adds, “and I think that’s so unfair and it’s so misleading for our young people because we’re downplaying the consequences of casual sex.”
The only way to prevent STDs and pregnancy, says Crouse, is abstinence.

Pastor Gets 30 Days in Jail for Helping Women at Abortion Center

This will not be tolerated! I’m praying for you Pastor Hoye. Keep up the God work!
From: Life News
Pro-Life Pastor Hoye Gets 30 Days in Jail for Helping Women at Abortion Center

Oakland, CA (LifeNews.com) — A pro-life African-American pastor has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for sharing a pro-life message outside local abortion centers. Walter Hoye was previously found guilty of violating what pro-life attorneys call an unconstitutional city law designed specifically to target him.
Oakland officials had enacted the law, which has been heavily criticized as an unconstitutional limit on free speech.
The ordinance prohibits contact within eight feet of women entering abortion businesses without their consent.
Today, Hoye was sentenced by Judge Hing of the Alameda Superior Court to serve 30 days in county jail . The court will allow Hoye to serve his time by an alternative method such as community service.
However, Hoye will be forced to pay a $1,130 fine and has been ordered to stay away from the abortion business and no longer help women find abortion alternatives.
Allison Aranda, a staff attorney with the Life Legal Defense Foundation, a pro-life law firm representing Hoye in the case, says an appeal is forthcoming.
“It is absolutely incredible that in America an individual can be sentenced to jail for engaging in peaceful free speech activity on a public sidewalk,” she told LifeNews.com Thursday afternoon. “We will appeal.”
The firm is also challenging the constitutionality of the ordinance in a lawsuit asking it to be struck down.
Hoye is an African-American pastor who feels a special calling to work for the end of abortion because abortion centers specifically target the black community.
As part of his efforts, he stands in front of an abortion center in Oakland with leaflets offering abortion alternatives and a sign reading, “Jesus loves you and your baby. Let us help.”
According to 2004 statistics from the National Center for Health Statistics, about 37 percent of pregnancies among black women end in abortion, compared with 12 percent for non-Hispanic white women and 19 percent for Hispanic women.
Aranda previously told LifeNews.com that the jury convicted Hoye despite a video tape the defense presented at trial showing that prosecution witnesses conjured up phantom patients whom Hoye had allegedly harassed.
The tape also showed that Hoye had not threatened two abortion facility escorts or its director, as had been alleged.
“This is a miscarriage of justice and we will appeal this verdict,” Aranda said.
“After speaking with several jurors after the verdict was read, it is clear that the court’s failure and outright refusal to instruct the jury regarding the key elements of the crime led to the erroneous conviction of Rev. Hoye,” she added.
LLDF attorneys say the “clinic escorts” are upset by Hoye’s presence and they surround him to impede his movement, block his sign with large sheets of blank cardboard, and make raucous noise to drown out his quiet offers of assistance.
Because their actions didn’t deter Hoye, the Oakland city council approved the new law. The penalty for illegally approaching a person to talk or hand out a leaflet is one year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
At the pre-trial hearing, Hoye’s LLDF attorneys cross-examined the victims.
The escorts admitted that Hoye never used force against them, threatened them, or blocked them. They proudly testified that they routinely block Hoye to prevent women from seeing his sign.
